Why is it worth coming to the Fiestas de la Magdalena 2026?

The official program of the Magdalena festivities transforms an entire week into a marathon of traditions, color and entertainment:

March 7, 2026 – “¡Empieza la Magdalena!”

The day the city officially enters the celebration. The atmosphere heats up with the first events, which culminate with the moment when the Pregoner sings his “Pregón” and kicks off the festivities

March 8, 2026 – Romería de les Canyes

One of the most emblematic traditions: the pilgrimage to the Ermita de la Magdalena. Thousands of locals and visitors set off together on foot, with canes and green ribbons, recreating the founding path of the city. In the evening, the city is filled with light and color with the parade of the Gaiatas, the luminous symbols of each sector of the city.

March 9, 2026 – Encesa de Gaiates

“Esclat de llum sense foc ni fum” – the lighting of the Gaiates is an impressive visual spectacle, in which light installations bring the night to life. The streets become a true open-air museum of light.

March 10, 2026 – Nit Màgica

An evening dedicated to fire, light and street performances. “Gran Nit Màgica” brings fireworks, ground fireworks, special effects and street theatre, transforming Castellón into a giant stage.

March 11–13, 2026 – lively days in the neighbourhoods

As we reach the middle of the week, the city vibrates: music, activities for children, performances in the gaitero sectors, “mascletas” at lunchtime and parties until late at night.

March 12, 2026 – Confetti Day

“Coso Multicolor” brings a real confetti battle to the streets, much loved by children and adults alike. It is one of the most colorful and photogenic days of the celebration.

March 13–14, 2026 – Friday and Saturday of Magdalena

Two of the most intense days: concerts, parades, neighborhood parties and a large influx of visitors. It is the perfect time if you want to feel the maximum pulse of the city.

March 15, 2026 – “Magdalena Vítol”

The last day of the celebrations, with an emotional ending: a superb show, but also a slightly nostalgic moment, because it marks the official closing of the festivities… until next year. With such a tight schedule, having a well-positioned and comfortable accommodation makes the difference between an exhausting experience and a memorable one.
